VICELAND - the new TV channel from VICE

VICELAND has implemented a Channel Management system from Broadcast Traffic Systems (BTS) to assist in the management of the UK launch of the channel on Sky, the first Vice TV channel to launch in Europe. The BTS software will be used to manage a Programme Archive and both Linear and VOD scheduling.

The BTS application at VICELAND was implemented in a rapid timescale and includes interfaces to a number of external systems including Playout, EPG, and MAM. Rich Williams of BTS said "A strength of the BTS application is the ability to tailor workflow to an individual broadcaster’s specific requirements whilst maintaining a single core application. This allows a broadcaster to achieve a tailored solution whilst remaining on a standard software version that can be upgraded as new software versions are released.” Williams added, ‘another key advantage is the fact that the BTS system is Web based, this gives a broadcaster flexibility in the operation of the system.
